Meet Peter Salvia
Peter remembers when TV’s only got a picture from weird, metallic spaghetti looking antennae and how excited his Dad was to bring home a VHS recorder so they could tape the broadcast premiere of Star Wars on ABC.
He jump-scared under a coffee table the first time he saw Michael Jackson transform into a werewolf in MTV’s premiere of Thriller (he’ll never live that down so getting it out of the way).
And he reminisces how comic books used to cost 75 cents an issue at the drugstore while Image Comics was a disruptive creative force upending the natural order of DC vs Marvel (never mind Dark Horse, they were awesome but not disruptive).
The ’89 Upper Deck Ken Griffey, Jr. rookie card was the hottest item in card collecting (not to mention Easter egg rookies like Randy Johnson & Gary Sheffield).
And cassette tapes would get warped in the heat sitting on the dash but that just made them sound cooler… especially if you were into Rage Against the Machine or Counting Crows.
Baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, swimming, biking, running for the fun of it… thru High School, Peter was into a lot of sports and also got a kick out of acting in a couple of high school plays. The Odd Couple and Anything Goes are indelibly etched into his stage performance experiences. He will always remember the kind response from audiences helping him through initial bouts of self doubt and stage fright.
His professional career has provided him many exciting opportunities to rub shoulders with both world leaders and leaders in the world of cinema, television and social media. He won’t bore you with the details (peruse his Linkedin and IMDB pages at your leisure) but he will confirm the saying is true: when you find something you love to do, then you never work a day in your life. What the saying doesn’t tell you is the trick is to find a balance between what you do for a living and living your life outside the hours you work.
Peter is humbled to have encountered American Mahayana Buddhism and cultivates Chan Meditation with his dharma family at the Way Places of Bodhi Light International, Inc. Encountering the dharma has been an education relieving immeasurable stressors from his daily life; he understands the impact can be far greater for many of his fellow cultivators.
Peter fundamentally believes in the principle of cause & effect which is why he is steadfast in his commitment to giving back to the community that has given him so much. A value taught to him by his father Salvatore, too.
Always learning and growing, Peter is both an active member of the Producers Guild of America and an active supporter of the propagation of America Mahayana Buddhism. Focusing on giving back to the filmmaking and spiritual communities, Peter is thankful for the opportunity to continue to contribute by sharing his hard earned knowledge & experiences in blog posts, interviews and tutorial videos.
